I recently received a job offer from Mosaic Press, a Canadian publishing firm claiming to be affiliated with the American Translators Association (ATA). The offer was for an English to Indonesian translation job, sent by someone named Ivy Reiss.
At first, it seemed legitimate, but after reading discussions on ProZ, I discovered that others have received the same offer, and it is being flagged as a scam.

This is the exact email I received. I accepted it as usual, but became suspicious with the format of the email. After they replied, I check that the email address the person is using ( ) is not the same as the site they are showing ( https://mosaicpress.ca/ ) Well that happens sometimes but just to make sure, I checked here. I'd like to report a scam : Beware of people contacting you re translation projects (too well paid!!) on behalf of Clear Global - they use Clear Global's name but their email addresses are .gmail and they communicate by Whatsapp which is contrary to Clear Global practices.

So I just received a message now. Of course, being someone who has just lost their job, I needed a replacement soon. So, I read their email and agreed I will translate for them. But actually, I am skeptical. I wanted to be sure that I will be getting paid fo the services I will provide. Translating 8k words in 3 days is absolutely a herculean task. The translation was sent in due time, within 6 days, and on the following day I got an email with a link to a broxel bank, totally unknown to me.
For 3 days, on the chat, I went from one person to another because the transaction could not be made with a BIC Code. Someone gave me a first email

Stupidly enough, I did, but worse than that I made it 'Paying Services' to which the XXX on the chat told me it should have been done to 'Family & Friends'! Yesterday, after so much insistance and enquiring why on earth should I be making a 'refundable' deposit by PayPal to get the BIC Code, I was again more naïve and stupid. I repeated the payment yesterday in a different currency.

The BIC CODE came at once. The transfer of the money did not! Finally.... I realised I was being scammed. 335,00 euros twice!
When I wrote I was going to report to the authorities, I was immediately banned from the broxel bank.
I made a claim on PayPal, but I doubt any good results. And now I just came to Proz and enquire and... blast! More than one people got scammed with Mosaic Press.
I learned my lesson in the worst way, loosing 670 euros!
