Once I discovered ProZ.com, I immediately became a member and started to reply to job offers. Now, thanks to ProZ.com I have many good clients all over the world.Thanks to ProZ.com my dream of becoming a full-time freelance translator has come true, together with a good income. I found ProZ.com quite useful initially (the term search, KudoZ, the glossaries, etc.), but it really came into its own when I became a paying member. Now, nearly all of my jobs come through my ProZ.com profile, and through repeat requests from regular clients, and I can't remember the last time I actually bid for a job.

The Blue Board is extremely useful for filtering out undesirable clients (bad/slow payers) - a feature that is only available to full members, but it is worth its weight in gold.

I have obtained and *kept* 11 clients.

It's definitely worth it. I've been a registered user at ProZ.com since 2002, but only started getting jobs through the site after becoming a member. The membership fee paid back after the first order.

I get occasional approaches through my ProZ.com profile, which in itself makes it worthwhile, because one smallish job covers your membership fee. I also use the invoicing feature and free website hosting, so it saves me money in those areas. As others have said the Blue Board is useful and could help you avoid some major headaches. ProZ.com also has a very high rating in Google, so your profile or KudoZ questions you have asked or answered (which will link through to your profile) are likely to come up in web searches, thereby increasing your visibility.

I was very skeptical when I joined ProZ.com, but I have to say that being a member really pays! I found new clients in just five months of membership.

This past year has been great. I woke up one morning deciding to go back to translating full time but I was not 100% sure that my decision was the right one. I left my "safe" English teaching job and recontacted my old clients. It didn't take long and I was soon back on track. Thanks to ProZ I have made contacts with new agencies around the world. I have met colleagues worldwide and found new friends... Words are my passion and this is the ideal job for me with growing children who love to see me around. I have joined the ProZ community in March this Year, and believe me in just 3 months I have felt like being a part of a family which is always there to support me for my betterment. Offers are on a rise, as well as the rates. It is this membership which has given me a forum which also had a positive impact on my personality. I am much-much more confident and ready for challenges which was not there earlier.

Kudoz to ProZ.com and their Blueboard for translator and agency ratings!! It's worth being a paying member. I just let a company with late payment know that I was aware they had some negative feedback and that I would add mine by the end of the week if I did not receive payment by then. I also started following their profiles on LinkedIn. 5 minutes later I received my payment via Wise!

Become a ProZ.com member (the membership fee will definitely pay off), answer KudoZ questions, get some WWA and don't forget to fill out your profile completely.
