G'day everyone

I'm glad to hear that many people found the virtual conference helpful. As for myself, although I was online from the time it started, I left again after about an hour of struggling. Perhaps it has something to do with my internet speed, but I could not attend any of the meetings -- in fact, I could not even get further than the main hall.

The virtual mouse pointer was extremely sluggish -- imagine having dropped a jar of jam on your mousepad. Clicking any link got me that little timer icon but with no indication of how soon I'll be going through to the next page (so after several minutes and several clicks, well, it just aint worth it). Imagine trying to play an action computer game on a computer that just doesn't have the required amount of RAM for it. So, nice idea, but why choose a solution that is so bandwidth hungry?

Anyway, I'm not here to gipe, but I do have a question: are the presentations available as podcasts (i.e. downloadable in a common video/sound format)?

Thanks
Samuel

Great idea Samuel Oct 3, 2009

That would be brilliant, if the ProZ staff could make it happen! Sorry the conference was such a disappointment for you Samuel; I was swamped with work so just popped in for a few minutes; I caught a few minutes of a presentation, very user-friendly; the networking feature not so much, much better in person IMO!!!

It's a great idea!
I managed to listen to one of the live presentations but I've been trying to listen to a few others the following days to no avail. I don't think in my case is a problem of Internet speed, but when I click "play", it automaticlaly turns to "pause" over and over. I would like downloadable files or at least transcriptions. I've also sent a support ticket about this.

Podcasts are available Oct 4, 2009

Both the powerpoint presentations and the podcasts for audio are available if you can get onto the conference from the Proz links. I was able to download them today. Maybe you will have success logging on since there won't be 6000 people logged into it now.
