The thing is, I often hear complains about CafeTran Espresso having an old-fashioned or even ugly interface.

Although everyone is entitled to her own taste, I cannot help thinking that with the right colour settings etc., CafeTran Espresso looks rather modern.

At least in my eyes.

I don't think it's ugly or old-fashioned. In my opinion an excellent example of an old-fashioned or even ugly interface would be this one:

Don’t forget to save the layout in a Project Template that you can load when your layout gets lost.

I was wrong, it's not exactly the layout showing in your post. Will play some more with layouts.
