Fragment from an operation report. "Nuttshell" should probably be nutshell, but still I can't find what nutshell means medically. Can anybody help me out? Thanks!

Not sure Tshwanedje. It is taken from the notes that are casually (or in haste) jutted down of an opeation. It can as well be the brand name of the material used, in which case it should have been written as Nutshell.

The only thing that I found which could maybe be linked to the medical field is "nut shell filters" used in engineering. Do not know whether one can place a "filter" in a body. Does this make any sense?
