I'm not sure I understand the question: I do some housework, not all. But I do not consider it part of my work, that's part of my personal life.

question unclear Sep 21, 2011

so I wrote "other"

I don't consider "housework" to be part of my workload, just chores that have to be done as part of normal life

Except for tidying, putting things away, and keeping the house looking reasonably neat on a daily basis, I leave all the work for my cleaning lady.

No. I leave the regular housework to the cleaning lady and very seldom do any myself - except for gardening and cooking, which are not "work" but fun!

Yes Sep 21, 2011

As I work from home and wife does not, I find myself taking on the greater part of the chores around the house. It is work.
With two toddlers in the house even the cleaning lady, who comes twice a week, doesn't suffice to cover everything that needs to be done. I have to organize my translation schedule around the time necessary to get things done in the home and I usually make my 'breaks' from translating include at least one house cleaning/cooking job.

Therapy or displacement activity? Sep 21, 2011

There were times, I remember when I was a student, when I was to be found ironing instead of getting on with an essay close to the deadline time....

but I don´t have a cleaning "lady", I leave that for my wife for when she has time. And then I work in the evening hours to compensate for time not being able to take for work during the day.

My professional life doesn't include any housework except, maybe, cleaning my screen or keyboard.

Everything else, laundry, cooking, doing dishes etc. is part of my personal life. So actually my answer should have been a clear "no".

Yes - If it means Sep 21, 2011

If it means do I do housework every day, irrespective of my workload, then the answer is yes. Part of the how-to-eat-an-elephant methodology - one bite at a time.

Yes and no Sep 21, 2011

I do houseworks -- house cleaning (with occasional help of hired hands), cooking, dishing, putting garbages out on gargage collection days, tending yard, water my house plants, walk my dog, etc., etc.

What confusing (seeming to be so to some of my colleagues) about this question is choice of the words "regular workload". It should be rephrased to "daily routine".

If I have finished my work (i.e. translation) earlier than usual, I will get more household chores in that day. I would not compare my translation work and household chores as my translation work will always get done and not all household chores will get done, at least by me!
