Medical translator and subtitler

I am a Dutch (NL -NL) translator and subtitler who enjoys letting go of literal translations to formulate what a Dutch native speaker would say in that context to get across that message.  I have an interest in medical subjects, especially oriented towards the patient. My strong point is formulating difficult information in an understandable way. 

I worked for more than ten years at a Dutch university of technology. In this capacity, I edited both technical texts on a wide range of academic subjects and translated marketing texts aimed at students and a general public. Hence I am comfortable with technical terms and professional language, but I also enjoy translating a text in a more informal tone of voice appealing to a more general target audience. 

No quotes outside my realm of expertise
My principle is not to offer work that I cannot deliver. If a text requires research of new terms, I am happy to take it on, but if the text you need translated is beyond my expertise, I will tell you, so you can be sure you work with the right translator/editor for that job. For the same reason, I translate only into Dutch and prefer to work on more texts for the same client. As my intent is to translate the text in fluent Dutch, it helps to have as much context as possible. On-site visits to watch the actual work are great for this, but never a must.
