I'm translating a short text about old villages in southern Italy; I'm stuck with the word appaesamento.
"... nuove ritualità di appaesamento"
The best explanation of the word I've found is"...il fenomeno “dell’appaesamento” che vede i nuovi arrivati condividere, ricercare, studiare ed approfondire gli usi, i costumi, le tradizioni e i tratti identitari della “nuova patria”, divenendo qualificati operatori della tutela e diffusione della cultura di adozione e non solo di quella di origine."
