I have to reinstall Windows and Trados and I need some advise as to the following:

A.
Is there a way to retain the list of completed projects and the customer list in the new installation?

B.
(1)
Before the installation of v2009 SP3 can commence I must install versions 2007 and 2009 (any of the previous service packs) - is that correct?

(2)
Do I have to de-install MT 2007 before I install MT 2009?

Kind regards,

Possible and easy Dec 28, 2010

In the folder Documents\SDL Trados Studio\Projects you will find a file called projects.xml - this file must be kept and placed in the same folder after reinstallation. It keeps all projects done on your computer.

For part B: you need to install SDL Trados 2007, then SDL Trados Studio 2009, then MultiTerm 2009.
You do not necessarilly have to deinstall MT2007, but I would recommend to do so, as using MT2007 and MT2009 i exchange does create problems.

Thank you, Jerzy! Dec 29, 2010

I hope you can also provide answers to the following queries:

1. Is there a file where client details are kept (client names, emails, etc.)?

2. May be it will be better to not install MT 2007 at all (than to initially install it and then deinstall it)?

3. I remember there was some kind of problem with the sequence of the installation of Microsoft .NET and Trados 2007, namely certain Microsoft .NET version break the installation of Trados 2007, and on the ot

Please, comment.

Further answers Dec 29, 2010

Question 1:
Certainly yes, but I really do not know where.

Question 2:
Not installing MT 2007 at all is the best option.

Question 3:
This was .NET 2.0
If you have had the SP1 installed BEFORE installation of T2007 you run into problems.

The installation sequence:
- T2007
- T2009
- MT2009

On Win Vista / 7 I however never encountered any problems related to .NET 2.0

Exact Directory Location Feb 5, 2011

By the way, the exact directory location is:

C:\Documents and Settings\[User]\My Documents\SDL Trados Studio\Projects

where [User] is the name of the current user in Windows.

Studio 2009 doesn't come with Multiterm.. Feb 5, 2011

hello,

I just followed the training "Trados Studio 2009 for beginners", and I just bought the product. I don't have Trados 2007.

It seems MultiTerm is not included with Studio 2009.

could you please explain briefly the role of Multiterm? is it absolutely necessary?

thanks, Marie
