SDL Trados Studio 2009 failed in converting the sdlxliff file to the docx format of the original, showing the above message.

I am running out of time with this project, so prompt help is appreciated. Sending sdlxliff files to the client is out of the question.

Here is how the message looks:

docx format Aug 31, 2010

Pavel,

First try restarting your computer and Trados 2009. If this doesn't solve the issue, try exporting to .DOC format, and then convert to docx format. If exporting to .DOC format doesn't work too, try some other format (RTF, TXT, etc.), and then convert to DOCX. Hope this helps.

Andrei

exactly the same thing happened to me Aug 31, 2010

Last night I had exactly the same problem, but before it happened Trados Studio was unable to open an entire project (an error message about a missing string). I opened the file I had been working on ( .docx) with open file and used the TM and then finished translating it.
Finally I was unable to 'save target as' - exactly the same error message as above. My time consuming solution was to export the TM and translate the entire document again using Trados 2007. I tried closing Trados studio

Does the untouched or partially translated file save as target? Aug 31, 2010

If yes, you need to retranslate.
If no, we need to search for errors there.

Thank you all! Aug 31, 2010

I ran the Tools > Verify [F8] function and found several problems with tags. Those were not obvious ones as no visible tags were present in the segments, however the tag order supposedly has been changed.

What I did was:

1. [Cut] target text (not [Copy] - to make sure that all of the text has been taken)
2. [Paste] the text into a Notepad window (not a Word window - to make sure I am only working with text, not special/hidden characters)

4. [Cut] the text from the Notepad window
5. [Paste] the text in the target segment (NB: If there are visible tags in the source segment, you need to paste the translation in portions around the tags in the target window)

This worked for me.

Wouldn't showing tags be an option? Aug 31, 2010

TBH I do not like the WYSIWYG view - and have switched to plain text view with full tags shown. This way I cannot omit a tag only because I do not see it. Obviously it is still possible to oversee some, but it's still easier to keep an eye on tags then.
