French term
barre anti-oubli
French to English
Other
Transport / Transportation / Shipping
gas bottles
Vertical bars used to ensure other restraints on gas bottle crates are in the correct position - they slot into holes provided for them in the trailer and can in turn be linked to a system in the cab that alerts the driver if one is not in place.
Les barres anti-oubli doivent être adaptées au chargement et aux casiers-palettes et correctement positionnées.
Is there a technical name for these?

reminder bar
I haven't found any references for this, but it's probably one organisation's terminology, so you can translate it however you like.

Comment: "I agree it seems to fit in this context - they are effectively "reminder bars" as they remind you to check the cage restraints are in place and since there doesn't seem to be an industry standard term this will do nicely"

duress alarm bar
Other translations for this expression include "non-forgettable", "reminder", "warning" and "safety". As philgoddard mentioned, it can be translated however it makes sense and fits right in the context.
Example sentence:
[...] maître et 7 utilisateurs, ainsi que blocage de faux code, buzzer anti-oubli, retard d'ouverture, alarme sous contrainte.
The standard version has 1 master code and 7 user codes, wrong-code blocking, time delay and a duress alarm.

philgoddard
: Alarm, maybe, but duress is completely off track.

Tony M
: I agree with Phil: 'duress' is quite the wrong sense here.

Yvonne Gallagher
: "duress" is completely wrong. But "alarm" might work

Daryo
: If you go beyond oversimplified glossaries and find decent explanations of whole concepts, the only "duress" you'll ever find related to alarm systems is "duress (alarm) code" - nowhere near anything related to transporting gas bottles.

safety bar, restraining strap or chain
I found this, which seems to match your context, where they just use "safety bar"
https://www.denios.ie/gas-cylinder-pallet-gfp-50-galvanised-...
I also found these regulations for gas cylinders. For storage cages are used but when being moved special pallets. 4.7 in these regulations
https://www.qub.ac.uk/directorates/EstatesDirectorate/Univer...
Cylinder pallets
Always check that cylinders in pallets are stable before releasing strap or chain.
Remember – if cylinders in a pallet are leaning or unstable – GET HELP before
removing the restraining straps.
Never load cylinders into a pallet that has defective restraining straps or chains ...

you could probably add "with alert/alarm system in place (or attached)"

Far more succinct for this term and what I should have thought of earlier :-(

Tony M
: Although it only says it "can" be connected to an alarm system, so I'd be reluctant to include that in this term.

Thanks Tony!//I take your point. If something is "alarmed" is the alarm always on? OK previous more long-winded "with alert/alarm system in place" then

philgoddard
: They're bars, not straps or chains.
