Hello everyone,

Does anyone have some suggestions on how much to charge to translate a book from English to Caribbean French. Your help is very much appreciated as this would be my first literary translation.

Literary translation is very special thing. Never know what you can meet. Some words or expressions may force a real investigation. The adequate price is 0,14 per word.

In my language pair, May 26, 2017

literary translation is one of the lowest paying categories. From the literature I've read about literary translation, this is true with many other language pairs. If at all possible, I'd avoid it. There are many subject areas in which translators are paid much better.

Hi Ilan,

I am just curious,

Why do you think I am not ready yet. This project would be in collaboration with another experienced translator who is also a published author.

Re-read the title of your own original post. And also look carefully at the comma after "curious" and the full stop after "yet" in the post from which I have quoted above.
