Hi all,

At some point I will need to declare my revenues and have a legal status as a translator in France (I currently pay taxes there from my previous job) ; do you know what is currently the best way to do this ?

I have heard that there is a new status called "auto-entrepreneur" (starting from 2009) that is specifically designed for people who earn sporadic revenues from the internet (from ebay, adsense, etc..), and it seems to correspond to my situation as most of my revenues do not come from translation services. I wanted to ask you if you thought it would be a good choice for people in my case ? If not, what would you suggest ? In general, I don't think it is wise do be in a dangerous fiscal situation and I would like to hear from your experiences.

May I point to the fact that the exemptions and derogations linked to this new status will only be upheld until Jan 1, 2012. After that date, those who want to continue (in our case in the translation industry) will have to search for a more "classical" status.

Besides, may I point out that you should have a legal status in the country where you pay taxes, i.e. the country where you are living for more than 183 days a year? ▲ Collapse
