yes, from the further context it seems the case but that for the party seeking that objective is still viability/feasibility - thanks Margarita

Comment: "Muito obrigada, Deborah. :o)"

or to increase viability. I think perhaps here we're not just examining the state of viability, but looking to make the facilty viable or continue its viability: "para a viabilização" "in order to ensure the viability of the factory."

Enable is definately a verb and would have to used with an additional word. Based on your additional comments, I understand \"viabilização\" reflects...

: show us how your English sentence would look because I don't see it working either - then we can reassess//I don't care about the points either, I think we should be able to back up what we suggest and I'm interested to see how you think this would work,

I would need the rest of the sentence to be able to translate it. Let me add Deborah, that I'm not here on a competition for points...I'm offering suggestions -

Disoccupy (?)
Em seu contexto, parece-me claro que estão dizendo: ..fazer negociações para desocupação da fábrica => Negotiations are being made to disoccupy (ou for the disoccupation of) the plant.

A intenção do grupo é sempre ajudar.

Discussion
So, when I'm ready to proofread my translation and fill in this blank that was left behind, I'll come back here, award the points and use the most suitable translation to finalize my job. I do not agree with your remark about "making this far more complicated for yourself" because that has been my procedure every time I use Kudos: I ask, I wait, and I choose. Whenever people ask for more context, I come back to provide what is necessary for everybody to have a general understanding of what I'm working with.
The only reason why I had to add notes to my question all day is because people keep on questioning whether I know what I'm talking about... I've given all the information I'm allowed to give regarding the context and, unfortunatelly, I cannot disclose anything else. Believe me, I know what the text says, I know what are the intentions from both parties, and I've exposed it to my colleagues in order to find the better term for "viabilizao" in this case.
Therefore, by the end of the day, I'll be closing this question and awarding the points to the best suggestion.
Thanks, everybody!
Obrigada.
"Viabilizao da fbrica" has been used many times throughout the project, which is made of several articles written by the Portuguese press.
As I've stated before, I understand that the verb "viabilizar" means "to make possible", or "to enable" as you have suggested. But what I'm looking for here is the noun that will allow me to keep the structure of the sentence, since there's nothing I can juggle around with in order to complete the idea of "In the beginning of the negotiations in order to enable the manufacturing plant TO DO WHAT???".
What I need is something that will fill in this blank: "In the beginning of the negotiations for the ____________________ of the manufacturing plant..."
