Haemogram
Hi all,
I've come across the abbreviation RMD several times in a patient's haemogram results:
Volumen corpuscular medio 80.7 fL 80.0 - 100.0 RMD
Hemoglobina corpuscular media * 24.8 pg 26.7 - 31.9 RMD
Concentración de hemoglobina corpuscular media * 30.8 g/dL 32.3 - 35.9 RMD
Dispersión de hematíes (volumen) * 23.2 % 11.0 - 14.5 RMD
Plaquetas (recuento) 194 xlO-9/L 140 - 450 RMD
Volumen plaquetario medio 11.3 fL 9.0 - 12.9 RMD
I'd be grateful if anyone could help.
Many thanks,
Nisah

RMD
It seems that RMD stands for an automatic cell-count analyzer trademark. Normal values are usually expressed as reference interval or normal range.

: It could well be although in your link RMD is an Indian brand name; RMD Mediaids Limited https://m.indiamart.com/rmdmediaids/ // Pues sí. Pero que el analizador incluya su nombre en los resultados sería raro, ¿no?

SI Chema, también se puede importar un analizador de India...

Reference Range
A couple of days ago I consulted a biochemist about this cryptic acronym and she said RMD stands here for "rango medio de dispersión" (standard normal distribution?), which is confusing since it is statistical data, but that in the context it stands for normal or reference values.
So I suppose it is safe to translate it as above.
¨The interpretation of any clinical laboratory test involves comparing the patient's results with the test's "reference range".¨

: Lo de "de dispersión" suena poco ajustado en este caso. No obstante, reference range, con independencia de lo que trate de expresar el acrónimo original, es sin duda ajustado -por mucho que RMD pueda aludir a algo más específico.
