Dutch term

standvermogen

Dutch to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general) verftechniek
Bedoeld wordt dat als de verf nog nat is hij niet naar beneden zakt en je dus zakkers krijgt. Wie weet hier een vertaling voor?

Groeten,
Herman

viscosity

See link below. I think viscosity amounts to the same thing in paints, but there may be a more specific term (I see 'standvermogen' is also used for glue, etc.)

agree Siobhan Schoonhoff-Reilly : Thickness. i.e. non-drip/drip-free paint are high in viscosity, while wood stains and varnishes are low in viscosity.

adhesion power or capacity

Not quite sure if this is the same as standvermogen. Tip: try googling 'adhesion power' or 'adhesion capacity' in combination with 'paint'.

Exterior paints too are available in latex and oil-based forms. The parameters that need to be considered for exterior paint are its resistance to wear and tear and also whether it can withstand fluctuating weather conditions. As exterior paint, oil paints can be more effective than latex paints. Oil paints have more effective penetrating as well as adhesion power. Latex paints, on the other hand, do not offer desired adhesion on chalking surface.

Adhesion power ie. How well the paint covers, and whether the paint will blister, crack or peel after time
