I am bilingual Dutch-English (native English), having lived and been educated in the Netherlands for about 15 years, although I completed my education in England with a degree and master's degree in psychology (Liverpool) and a PhD in psychometrics/medical statistics (Leeds). I am a Chartered psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society

Prior to becoming a translator I worked in a number of academic departments in the UK. I have over 10 years experience working in a medical oncology department as a research psychologist, computer programmer and database manager, and more recently as a medical/bio-statistician. I have considerable firsthand experience of medical and healthcare systems and procedures, including drafting ethics submissions, clinical trial protocols, patient questionnaires, and analysis, as well as an indepth knowledge of medical and surgical reports. In addition to this I have been a tutor and more latterly the programme manager for a master's course in child forensic studies (combining law and psychology).

I have worked for the last 8 years as a freelance Dutch/Flemish-English translator (pre-dominantly part-time) where, due to my background, I have specialised in medical and legal translations. This worked has covered a wide variety of texts including, clinical trials, medical, surgical, and pharmaco-economic reports, as well as court reports, legal correspondence and judgments.
