Spaans naar Engels: El duelo Japonés parece no tener fin

Vertaling - Engels Japan’s mourning seems endless
By Antonio Rodríguez G.
WE FEEL FOR YOU IN YOUR SORROW…
The every first thing I thought when I heard about the 8.9 Richter Scale’s Earthquake in Japan was that despite of the intensity of this kind of unpredictable phenomenon, Japanese people are very organized and prepared to face up to such an earthquake. As a matter of fact, in our collective subconscious memories we define the Japanese as hard-working people that take whatever it comes with a kind of philosophy. I’m not here to prove if this is a simple theory or just an illusion, but I’d like to give my recognition to the remarkable work accomplished by Japanese authorities and rescuers as well as all brave Japanese journalists that took all the measurable risks to continue informing the world, and I’d like to let them know that we feel for them in their sorrow!
Their professionalism is admirable, their courage, constant task and dignity are an example for all of us in the way they treat the information, I consider that they made a great decision by avoiding at all circumstances to show unnecessary pictures of corpses and dramatic images as seen in other parts of the globe as a sign of overall respect to the victims in these hard moments!
WE’VE BEEN FORMULATING SHORT ANSWERS AND LOTS OF QUESTIONS STILL REMAIN!
Was that an Earthquake or a Submarine earthquake?
The one that occurred in Japan on March 11th wasn’t an earthquake but a submarine earthquake; that means that the epicenter was located somewhere on the “Continental shelf” provoking a fissure and a sudden landslide which finished with a variation on the sea level which ended creating a Tsunami.
Globally affected…
Just few minutes later my “Facebook” pals alerted me of an imminent un- thought cataclysm that was about to involve thousands of missing people, millions of tons of debris, billions of dollars in loss and an “un-precedential Civil-Nuclear accident”.
1, 2, 3… Who’s next?
America had a civil nuclear disaster in 1979, called as a school case by experts “The Three Mile Island accident”, occurred in Pennsylvania when a partial core meltdown in unit 2 happened; Chernobyl in Ukraine is remembered as the worst catastrophe involving nuclear power energy attributable to human errors. Now Fukushima in Japan is added to the unpleasant list of nuclear disasters and the fear of becoming the 4th nation included in the list was spread above all the G7, with the particularity of its categorization “Natural Disaster’s co-lateral damage” and who knows if India, Iran and North Korea are included in these dreadful unfortunate lottery to come!
RISKS OF TSUNAMIS EVERYWHERE IN THE PACIFIC AREA!
A tremendous Tsunami (a seismic sea wave produced by a seaquake) that killed thousands of villagers and demolished the Japanese coastal shore’s infrastructure and the impact of a mega wave menaced the whole Pacific Area including Mexico, not hypothetically but for real!
The apocalyptical aftermath became nevertheless a sour reality when President Calderon sent a message through his personal Twitter account, that the whole pacific coast of Mexico might be evacuated as a prevention measure because of the arrival of the potentially deathly wave.
The Mexican Pacific Coast is vulnerable and exposed to the devastation of Tsunamis because it is located in one of the most seismic areas of the world. Fortunately there’s a unique system of alerts covering the Pacific Ocean with satellite buoys that conform a sophisticated network that works as follows: In case of alert, a tightly controlled process sends a bulletin to all the concerned area, but this is not pure science, by sending a message to officials and ministers, this message fights against time and bureaucracy; Mexican authorities reacted very well this time and thanks to new technologies and principally because of the considerable distances, the whole population was informed immediately, our delightful beaches on the West coast were evacuated on time because we are so far away from the epicenter of this tsunami but I don’t know if we are prepared enough to face a tsunami when the epicenter were closer!
Your opinion is very important …
