Japanese term

二番底

Japanese to English Other Government / Politics
This sentence is about Chairman Bernanke of the Federal Reserve Board. The article talks about what's happening with the economy in the US.

The whole phrase is "二番底を招かないことを議長は重視している."

I need to know specifically what 二番底 means in this context. Thank you.

Yes, that's how I picture it, Yasutomo-san. Thank you. I have a feeling that Shishimac is right with "double-dip recession." These are words we hear often nowadays, but it's sometimes hard to associate them with their Japanese equivalents. :-)
Yasutomo Kanazawa Jan 13, 2010:
二番底 This term has come up frequently since the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers last year. 二番底is used as a term related to景気 where the economy has turned sour, and people think that it's rock bottom, but actually there is a deeper bottom.
