cheer somebody up
The immediate thought was "to keep somebody's moral/spirits up". But this doesn't convey an improvement in moral, just maintaining it. Hence the alternative of "cheering somebody up".

: by the way, you would say a) "to boost someone's morale", not "to boost morale to someone" (this Italian "to" construction does not exist in English), and b) "morale" not "morale spirit"
