In che senso è usato qui "apprehension" secondo voi? E in che senso "reinforced"? Intuitavamente direi che si sente rassicurato, proprio perché Canaan non era un mondo completamente nuovo e sconosciuto. Tuttavia, la scelta lessicale mi fa dubitare. Grazie in anticipo, S.

Secondo l'Oxford, "Apprehension" ha anche il senso di "understanding, grasp" (es: the pure apprehension of the work of art"...Quindi il senso è più o meno comeq dicevi tu.

Il timore che egli doveva provare e' ulteriormente rafforzato quando viene a conoscenza...
Ciao, "apprehension" non ha un senso positivo, come potrebbe essere "rassicurato", ma significa un senso d'ansia e di timore per qualcosa di spiacevole o comunque negativo dovra' accadere.Quindi, in questo caso il termine "reinforced" si riferisce ad un ancora piu' rafforzato senso d'ansia e di timore che egli prova nel momento in cui viene a conoscenza del fatto che i Canaaniti si avvicinano.

: d'accordo sull'interpretazione di apprehension e dunque della frase nel suo complesso; must have felt però lo tradurrei con "che sicuramente sentiva", "di cui era certamente preda", o qualcosa di simile

Aveva gia' un senso d'apprensione, ma poi, quando se ne aveva accorto che c'erano i canaaniti, lo ha sentito di piu' l'apprensione.

Ecco da dove deriva il mio dubbio che qui "apprehension" non significhi apprensione/timore bensì qualcos'altro di diversamente interpretabile insieme a "reinforced". Che senso può avere secondo voi? Grazie, S.
