Alright, my current conundrum is as follows: my text uses the Dutch word "radarpost" to refer to "whatever is using radar to detect objects at sea", but when doing so it is referring to both shoreside and marine radar. I may just be having a brain-fry moment in this heat, but I can't think of a translation for the term that would encompass both. "Radar station" seems a bit weird for marine radar. . . Any thoughts?

Ik denk dat 'post' in 'radar post on ships' een andere betekenis heeft dan 'post' in radarpost.

I would like to suggest (see other question), perhaps it fits better into this context:

Try entering 'radar post on ships'. You will get a fine display of ships with radar posts

Yes, but my problem with the word extends to both source and target language, really: is a "radarpost" what you would find on a ship? A ship has a radar system, sure, but. . . When I Google image search "radarpost"/"radar post", I seem to almost exclusively get photos of onshore "tower" structures. . .

Another option: "radar installation".

However, it seems to me that if the term being used in Dutch is "radarpost", "radar post" ought to be fine for both the shoreside and marine variant in your text.

Radar system? Radar site? Radar device? Radar unit? Or simply: radar, with nothing else?

I realise I may well be overthinking this (I'm a bit "stuck in" at this stage), but accuracy and clarity are of the essence in this very dense text. Would appreciate votes/opinions from the ProZ dream team :-)
