Japanese term

樹脂化

Non-PRO Japanese to English Tech/Engineering Mechanics / Mech Engineering
For the inlet on a pump. Is "resinification" used?

Discussion

Julian Rippon Feb 7, 2011:
Depending on the context, it is just possible that what is meant is "changing [the material of the inlet] to plastic (or resin)".

This would only be a possibility if the text was explaining that a different material had been used in the past (metal for example) and that for some reason a change was being made to use 樹脂 instead.

If not, then I'd go with one of the other suggested answers.

This use of 化 can be seen in the following KudoZ entry:

Most other lubricants are subject to relatively fast aging and oxidation. They harden in time-a process that is called "resinification". The oil begins to thicken, becomes sticky, gluey and finally turns into a hard resinous substance.

resin lamination

Since jushika is easily seen in many EN-JP dicts, I understand that resin pump inlet wants a durable/corrosion-resisting material. I propose this translation: a bit different form. resin formation

It is difficult to suggest an exact term without contxt. But I guess that it refers to the formation of a resinous material in some chemical process.
