If this is not a patent, I think the translator is granted some flexibility in choosing the appropriate term. For a patent I would stick with "inkjet printer that records on a recording medium by discharging ink droplets" (reference link below) but if not, I might use "inkjet printer that prints out by outputting ink droplets onto a recording medium"
