Contrato de Promesa de Compraventas

Promise to Purchase Agreement
Even though I agree with Sheila concerning the "promise to purchase" part, I think the word agreement is necessary, it gives the written, formal "conotation" that "promise to purchase" by itself lacks. Good luck! :)

Comment: "Although I liked Mariann's answer, I feel this answer sounds more native and smoother in English. Thanks, everyone, and I will stay away from promissory ;o)

yes
yes, promesa is like a pre-sale agreement giving both the buyer and the seller obligations.(i.e. the buyer has a right to see legal documents but also gives an advance payment - of course it depends whiach country u're talking about). bye

purchase/sale commitment agreement
above may not be the <mot juste>, but I would stay away from promissory - I've only seen it used in promissory notes.
A <promesa> is a <commitment>
<contrato> is often best translated as <agreement>

Promise to Purchase
I think Agreement and Contract are redundant. Promise by itself is sufficently binding.

purchase agreement/ purchase option
Just purchase agreement. Promise of purchase agreement is redundant for the agreement by itself might contain a clause of purchase option that means the promise.
