Das wäre im Gegensatz zu der Erklärung von Anna-Barbara, bei der das Begriffspaar wie folgt aussähe:
working = Abteilung (Arbeitsplatz im Büro)
home = zu Hause
Das ergäbe: "Büro-/Heim-Kostenstelle"
Welches der beiden Modelle hier vorliegt, musst Du an Hand des Kontextes entscheiden.
Mit erscheint die Variante von jccantrell wahrscheinlicher.

can't give you the German, but...
In our company, engineering support is 'matrixed.' That means that I do not work on projects in my home cost center. Rather, my services are 'sold' to a project for as long as they want me. When I am done there, I move to the next project.
So, the home cost center is the one I was hired in for, say, software engineering. The working cost center is the one that currently employs me, viz. Satellite XXX.
My take on it from the USA.
P.S. the working cost center pays me day-to-day, but my performance and raises are decided by the home cost center (with input from the other guys, of course).
