Adding SDL Trados certification badge to "About me" profile section | Feb 27, 2013 |
Hello Susanne, You should be able to add the SDL Trados certification badge to the "About me" section of your profile using HTML code, http://www.proz.com/settings/personalization#about_me Code:
| <a rel="nofollow" href="LINKTOCERTIFICATIONPAGE" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="LINKTOBADGEIMAGE" alt="SDL Certified" /></a> |
|
Just remove the rel="nofollow" from the beginning and replace LINKTOCERTIFICATIONPAGE with the URL of the SDL page where your certification shows and LINKTOBADGEIMAGE with the URL of the button/badge image. Give it a try and let me know how it goes. Kind regards, Lucia

First of all download the appropriate Trados button to your PC. Mine is a jpg, not a png. Then upload it to a suitable folder in your ProZ.com hosting account. If you don't already have one, you can set one up for free. Then you can use the html code Lucia has posted. Let me know if it doesn't work for you.

How can I set up a hosting account?
Peter Nicholson (X) Polen Local time: 04:20 Pools naar Engels Hosting account | Feb 27, 2013 |
I don't remember exactly. It is a long time since I did it. To locate the option, I go to my ProZ.com home page. At the top in the middle of the page I can see my photo and name. Mousing over my name calls up a menu. Under the 'My profile' heading (in black) there is an option called 'My hosting' (in red). Click on this and you are directed to a page with further options, including a getting started guide.

As a matter of fact, you don't need to use ProZ.com hosting at all. You can simply link to the original button on your certification page. If you go to mine at: http://oos.sdl.com/asp/products/certified/index.asp?userid=91838 and right click on the certification button itself, a menu appears. At the very bottom is 'Properties'. Open the properties, and copy the address (URL). Use the html code provided by Lucia (the code I use on my profile is slightly different) and paste in the URL of your button to replace the words LINKTOBADGEIMAGE. You should get a result similar to this: The reason I have used my hosting account is because I want to have full control over the button which shows on my profile. My version is ever so slightly different from the original, as I have removed the thin white border so that the bottom line of my Trados button is exactly in line with the other badges on display. Compare the two Trados buttons I have shown in this forum.

Considering that I also have a certificate for Trados 2011, I would also like to show this on my profile. Did you complete your training on-line? I completed my training in person and as such there is no link on the SDL website to a certificate. What can I do in this case? They gave me a paper hard copy of the certificate. Is there still a way to link it? Sarah

Hi Sarah, I did't even know there is a way to this offline. Sorry, can't help you here. May be one of the colleagues can. Good luck. Susanne

I also attended a face-to-face SDL training course and got a certificate for it. However, the badge that SDL wants people to display (because of course it promotes them too) is only given to people who have been "certified" by them. That means taking the on-line multiple choice exam(s) through the SDL website here: http://www.sdl.com/services/education-certification/certification-product/sdl-trados-certification/ I see that the exam costs €49 http://www.translationzone.com/en/translator-shop/shop_main.asp but as far as I remember I think it was bundled with training when I attended a ProZ training course a few years ago (or if you buy on-line training directly through SDL).
