Hello,
I'm trying to find the names of popular French TV cartoons or series for children. Anything that would be suitable for 6months up to 6-7 years old.
I have asked many friends living or having links with francophone countries, but apparently nobody "watches" tv this days. I find it difficult to believe, but there you go!
Any ideas anyone?

France 5 tend to have quality and not too much 'Dora-style' stuff.

When they grow a bit older... Sep 17, 2010

A reckon an interesting option is French-Japanese Ulysse 31, around Greek mythology, very dynamic, great values, and interesting animation for its time. I loved it when I was a teenager, and love it now when my kids watch it. I have it in Spanish, but being a French series with Japanese production, it's bound to be good to promote now just French but also culture among your little ones.

I have this "coffret", although in Spanish.

(My kids are 6 and 5 right now.)

Thanks to all the suggetions, they are great!

Tomás, I remember Ulises 31. I watched as a kid, but I always thought it was a Spanish series. You learn everything new every day!

El barco de chanquete... Sep 17, 2010

Yes, that was a great one as well. It would be impossible to have a series like that nowadays. If they had filmed "Verano Azul" in our times they would be drugs, sex, alcohol... Chanquete would have been accused of pedophilia and one of the girls would have got pregnat! Those were the days... when computer screens were green...

Many of these are Japanese cartoons that were adapted for the French market WAY before it became popular to do so in English - a few of these series have now been dubbed to English - such as Astroboy and the Mysterious Cities of Gold.

My adaptation of Verano Azul for modern times looks more like Chanquete is an ex-priest who has horizontal encounters every now and then with Julia, the owner of a tatoo and piercing studio. Her customers --the youngsters-- are all ultragreen people who are trying to fight current law to get married all together, and spend their summers in an isolated organic community where the girls try to get pregnant with donations FedEx-ed to them in a portable freezer by colleagues from a friend community in the Adriatic coast.
