How do you open a password protected Excel file for translation in Memoq or SDL Trados Studio? I have the password and can open it on its own. But when attempting to open it in either of those programs I just get an error "This does not appear to be an Office 2007 or later file, or it is password-protected."

Is it possible to deactivate the password protection? Feb 9, 2017

I haven't worked with such a file but I thought maybe you can use the password to deactivate the password protection in Excel. Then you can work on the file and activate a password protection on the produced translation file.
