Ils se contentaient d'envoyer des centaines de CV et de prier pour une réponse. De toutes façons, Harold se sentait incapable de lire la moindre annonce. Les milliers de petits caractères façon pattes de mouche le rendaient malade. Il est vrai que le nombre d'annonces n'avait cessé d'augmenter au cours du siècle dernier, à mesure que les emplois déclinaient. Chercher un travail n'en restait pas moins le sport national.

Pucci Mania may have put a high polish on the psychedelic sixties, but what Emilio Pucci created was actually quite simple. His signature printed tops and dresses were often no more complex than a T-shirt, and this at a time when Christian Dior’s lavish gowns and precise suits were fashion’s crowning glory. But an early and extremely popular Pucci look broke away from all that salon-style pomp. The ensemble—nothing more than a crisp silk button-down shirt that came in a rainbow of colors matching a pair of taut three-quarter-length Capri pants, which the marchese named for his beloved summer getaway—gave both style and freedom to women who were ready to take on a changing world. While Pucci’s simple tunics and Capri pants are happily still available, perhaps nothing speaks better for the longevity of his vision than Lacroix’s updated collection. Today’s Pucci may have more sensual draping than the original basic silhouette. But the prints—bold, sinuous, and nearly alive—could have been drawn today.
According to Enrico Quinto, an Italian collector of fine vintage clothing, Pucci’s role in Italian fashion is “primordiale, fondamentale.” .”

Mais une explosion fulgurante de la tendance Pucci devait rompre avec ce faste ostentatoire. L’ensemble Pucci, un chemisier de soie aux lignes nettes décliné aux couleurs de l’arc-en-ciel, assorti au mythique «Capri» —un pantalon trois-quarts baptisé d’après son enclave estivale préférée— insuffla un nouveau style empreint de liberté à des femmes prêtes à évoluer avec leur monde. Si l’on aime toujours autant les tuniques toutes simples et les corsaires du Pucci d’hier, rien ne souligne davantage le caractère intemporel de sa vision que la collection réactualisée par Christian Lacroix. La silhouette d’antan n’avait certes pas de drapés aussi sensuels. Mais ses imprimés —audacieux, sinueux, presque vivants— auraient pu être dessinés aujourd’hui.

Dressed entirely in white, designer Karim Rashid perches on one of his
own modular creations, Turboscape (right) – a pink, synthetic monster that virtually
fills the lobby of the Pinakothek der Moderne museum in Munich. The occasion is the opening of a series of exhibitions called Change, where a cross-section of his work is being shown in Europe for the first time.
The New York-based designer is renowned for working at breathtaking speed, exploiting to the full the digital world of technology. He first appeared on the public stage years ago with the slogan ‘I want to change the world’ – also the title of his first book. But it would be no surprise if his name didn’t ring any bells. Very little of his work actually bears his name.
Take, for example, the Davidoff perfume, Echo: the bottle is one of Rashid’s designs. So is the Garbo wastepaper basket, which – believe it or not – has sold over four million units. Then there’s the design of the new Semiramis Hotel in Athens, which has caused such a sensation. They might not bear his name but they certainly bear his hallmark.

Prenez, par exemple, le parfum Echo de Davidoff : le flacon, c’est lui. Idem pour la ‘Garbo’, star absolue des corbeilles à papier, vendue à plus de quatre millions d’exemplaires. Quant au design du nouvel hôtel Sémiramis à Athènes, il n’en finit pas de faire sensation. Les créations de Rashid se passent de signature : leur style est reconnaissable entre mille.

My aim is to find the right word, the right tone, in other words the right "flavour" for your copy. Actually, the idea is to make sure it doesn't look like a translation at all, but a well written piece. Indeed, who wants to hear "it sounds like a translation"?
Mon but, c'est de trouver le mot juste, le ton juste, ou si vous préférez, la "saveur" qui convient à votre texte. L'idée, c'est justement de faire en sorte qu'il tienne plus du texte bien écrit que de la traduction. Le commentaire "on dirait une traduction" n'étant pas des plus flatteurs...
