Nederlands term
verweerbijstand
Nederlands naar Engels
Juridisch / patenten
Basically this means "legal assistance for defence" in court proceedings, or is this limited to "appeals". Its definitely not "rechtsbijstand", which translates as legal assistance.
Is there a shorter confirmed term for this in English?

legal defence cover
I use the term 'cover' as the costs of legal defence are often covered under an insurance policy and 'verweerbijstand' is also used in the context of legal defence insurance. However, I don't see anything essentially wrong with 'legal defence assistance', although I might be inclined to think of it as a translated term rather than a natural English one.

: don't think so, to be honest, in Dutch it is "Bijstand bij het voeren van verweer tegen vorderingen van derden ter zake van aansprakelijkheid"
