I contacted my bank and they told me my card issuer possibly refuses payment because of Proz trustworthiness concerns. I submitted a support ticket, but there are 96 tickets before mine and "paying members are proritized". I would be grateful if this matter could be looked into a little bit faster. Please also note that I'm not interested in swithing payment methods. Thanks in advance.

Forum: ProZ.com membership
Topic: Who do I pay to keep my website created by Premium membership?
Poster: Andrea Capuselli
Post title: You should be hearing back from the 360 team shortly.

Thank you for your patience, David. I believe you should be hearing back from the 360 team shortly.

As Samuel mentions, it's not so much the domain that makes up the cost of the ProZ*360 service, but the hosting and maintenance package. I'm sure you'll hear something similar via email, but, depending on what hosting and website management service you choose, the migration steps will be a little different. In any case, don't worry, you don't need to save a simple copy of your website in HTML, we'll facilitate a complete backup file when you are all set up with your new hosting provider and ready to migrate.

I see that the FAQ Samuel linked is for a previous, no longer active hosting service, which has been replaced by 360! I'll be updating that ASAP, but, in the meantime, the ProZ*360 FAQs can be found here: — Thank you, Samuel!

And, David, I'm very sorry to hear that you didn't find much benefit in the Premium package! I think its most valuable features beyond the website are the several free and greatly discounted training materials and software tools, some of which are included with Plus and some additional ones, but I understand that for a well-established translator, these may not be as useful as they can be for an industry newcomer. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts; I'll make sure they get back to the rest of the team.

Which third party hosting/domain service do I need to make payment to in order to keep the website active?
I believe ProZ.com is both the host and the domain registrar. But you are the owner of your domain name. This means that you'll have to pay ProZ.com whatever ProZ.com's usual price is for this service (EUR 99 per year, I believe).

Or, you can get yourself a new host, put your website on that host, and get a new registrar, and just transfer your domain name away from ProZ.com to the new registrar, and connect the domain name to your website again. The hosting FAQ contains information that you need to do that:

Your current "website" is hosted on Wordpress, but it is essentially just a single page. You can Ctrl+S from any browser and save the website as a single file (then you also need to save the images, and relink them to the HTML page). So, anyone who knows how to do this can do this VERY easily. (You probably won't be able to do this yourself, though.)

EUR 99 per year is not bad. (You can do it a lot cheaper, if you know how, but if you don't know how, then it's not a bad deal.) E.g. if you got yourself a website at Wix.com, you'll pay EUR 17 per month.
Thank you for the helpful explanation, Samuel, and for putting the cost into perspective. Cheers.

What else is there that will get me more jobs than with just a Standard membership?

In terms of the website, I contacted Support / ProZ*360 and was told it would be 99 USD per year if I want to maintain the website IN ADDITION TO the Standard membership fees... meaning there is very little discount from just buying the Premium membership! Pretty steep pricing scheme if you ask me.

I replied to that email asking for pricing details on how to transfer my domain to a third party provider and pricing details in the hope it will be more economical but did not yet get an answer from your side.

Thank you.

[Edited at 2026-02-05 12:03 GMT]

For someone like me, returning after 16 years of limited activity due to full-time commitments, the platform offers renewed potential: increased visibility in the directory, access to BlueBoard for vetting clients, and an opportunity to reconnect with a global network of professionals. While some members report a decline in high-quality leads and an increase in low-paying MTPE offers, others still find ProZ valuable for maintaining legacy relationships, engaging with the community, and building their professional brand. I hope this can be a strong restart.

Forum: ProZ.com membership
Topic: Is a ProZ professional membership still worth it these days?
Poster: Yasutomo Kanazawa
Post title: No really sure

I have a few more months before my membership expires, and I'm not sure if I would renew my membership at the moment.

The only reason I kept being a paying member was for the BlueBoard and the directory ranking in my working language pairs.

As Philippe wrote above, membership fee is business expense. I agree with him, and I consider membership fee as advertising fee on Proz.

So my profile page here works to verify my identity in case anyone is checking.

Still, if they'd managed to modernize their platform and other things, I'm pretty sure things would be way better. It's like someone having a cash cow and not caring about it.
I've found many good clients through the platform over the years, most of whom have contacted me via my profile. It's true that this has decreased in recent years, but the weak economy must be taken into account. We'll only know if the decline is permanent once economies recover globally.
Recently, an agency contacted me through my website, which only happens from time to time. Being able to check their BlueBoard helped me decide whether starting a collaboration with them would be a good decision. Their ratings were good, so I accepted the project they offered me.

The fewer paying members registered, the weaker the competition in listings.
As long as I can earn a decent living from translation, I'll keep supporting the site in acknowledgement of the skiploads of money I've earned since 2000 through agency customers I met here.

Other ancillary reasons: I don't want my posts vetted for hours and becoming fully irrelevant or stale when published, I already make them irrelevant enough without this kind of lag. And there may be a lot more blinking adverts. And the subscription is a business expense.

Philippe

I was disappointed in how the staff was handling several issues frequently raised in forums back then (by choosing radio silence as their mode of response) and briefly tried another platform which also offers membership options for shorter periods of time, but found no use of it. Then there was a discount for membership in summer and also the dollar had become cheap, so I decided to give ProZ a go for another year. I mainly just wanted my fancy Pro badge back and maybe increase the chances of being found here by some respectable clients. Other than that, not having a full access to Blue Board was the only difference I noticed in the few months when I was not a paying member of this site.

The only reason I'm still a paying member is because of the (direct) clients and colleagues I initially connected with here many years ago. Some of those relationships remain strong to this day, so my annual contribution to ProZ is a nostalgic tribute to those golden days.
But nothing lasts forever, so maybe one more year… until I let the membership lapse.
