ProZ 的项目 Feb 26, 2007

英语比较简单, it's either good or bad, except for some particular localized usages and idioms.

要是 chance 能够抽个空摘要翻译者两串讨论,对中文新进的译者也许会有一点启发作用:困难的不只在中文翻译界。

Sorry, Feb 26, 2007

没时间,我今天又差点儿晚交稿。

我是邮件跟踪,但没仔细看内容,一般都是新来者着急,需要一两年的时间才能有稳定客户群,我们不是也都从那里走过来的吗?

翻译界困难,考虑其它可以利用外语的工作也是一个办法。

Hi Steve,

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.

I found that machine translation did pretty good jobs with some western languages, but did very poor jobs with the Chinese language. As I mentioned before, a company used machine translation for the Chinese version of its website. As a result, “Our software may be useful for you” was translated into “我们的软件五月份对你是有用的”。

To be fair, such translation software has been improved greatly over the years.

中文和英文的老祖宗是全然不同的, 即便是两种语言的发源灵感同是来自上帝. I seriously doubt that though

但英法则很相近. In most cases I got a pretty good idea of what was being talked about in general.
